Multinational Company Selects Portsmouth for its US Headquarters

Thursday, May 17th, 2018

Today, Governor Chris Sununu and Commissioner Taylor Caswell announced that Revision Military, a multinational company with locations across the globe is choosing Portsmouth as its United States Headquarters.

Revision Military, a world leader in military and tactical solutions and protective equipment, will open its new offices at Pease International Tradeport. The New Hampshire location will become Revision’s US Headquarters and Center of Excellence, steering product research, as well as the development and manufacturing of the company’s most advanced products.

“Revision Military was the first company I met with after being elected governor, and today’s announcement is a testament to our pro-growth, pro-jobs agenda,” Sununu said. “As an acclaimed international company, their expansion into the Granite State – which will serve as their US Headquarters – proves that New Hampshire is open for business once again. Revision designs and manufactures state of the art military hardware that keeps our troops safe, and we are proud they will call New Hampshire home.”

By expanding to New Hampshire, Revision will improve access to its military customer base in the Greater Boston area, as well as along the Eastern Seaboard, and will be better positioned to work collaboratively with local academic institutions, such as the University of New Hampshire, and a significant number of locally based partners and suppliers.

“New Hampshire’s business climate and hyper-focus on economic development is paying dividends every day,” said Commissioner Taylor Caswell. “Precision manufacturers like Revision are expanding and coming here for our quality workforce, low taxes, and business-friendly approach.  These things don’t happen by accident.”

“Revision’s expansion to New Hampshire deepens the company’s already-well-founded commitment to US based operations and manufacturing,” said Jonathan Blanshay, CEO, Revision Military. “Moreover, this future location represents a bold but necessary next step forward for the company—indicative of both Revision’s ever-widening vision for innovation in soldier systems and tactical solutions.  It is also essential in order to effectively house the full breadth of the company’s growing capabilities.  We are very excited to initiate this new chapter for the company and we have started to put together a world-class team. Revision has evolved significantly over the last 17 years and this upcoming investment in a prime location makes our intentions clear: We expect to accelerate our growth and capabilities for the foreseeable future, and in the coming months and years we will be looking to hire dozens of the very best engineers, technicians, manufacturing experts and program managers available in the area in order to further develop our vision and service our customers.”

Revision has already hired the first group of New Hampshire management-level employees. Together they will spearhead the development of new facilities, new capabilities and implement near-term strategy based on Revision’s current slate of projects, contracts, and in-progress bids. This founding group of New Hampshire-based employees includes Chief Technology Officer Chris Palmer, who will oversee the team and report directly to Blanshay.

The announcement of the expansion in New Hampshire comes just over two years after Revision last opened a new facility in Bristol, UK. This new venture also builds on considerable recent investments made by the company to upgrade its facilities in the U.S. and Canada, particularly the relocation and upgrading of the Montreal hub for industrial design and R&D to a modern, centrally-located office, as well as an aggressive expansion project in Newport, Vt.—the company’s main armor and helmet manufacturing facility—completed last year.

Across seven facilities, Revision has established state-of-the-art, vertically integrated operations—from industry-leading sales and customer service, to world-class branding and marketing, to forward-thinking business and product development, and beyond. Revision has built a substantial international reputation on the strength of cutting-edge high-volume manufacturing, advanced R&D, and testing laboratories. The Company is ISO 9001-2008 certified and employs over 400 people. With this new location, Revision joins, and will contribute to, a vibrant New Hampshire economy with the high-skilled workforce the company needs to continue to deliver best-in-class soldier system technology.

About Revision

Revision develops and delivers purpose-built protective soldier equipment for military use worldwide. The company, which began with eyewear, has expanded to face, head and torso protection as well as energy storage and power management products, continues to develop innovative capabilities for integrated, performance-enhancing soldier systems. To that end, Revision brings together the most advanced expertise, state-of-the-art facilities and finest technical minds. Privately owned and ISO 9001:2008 certified, Revision’s operational headquarters is located in Essex Junction, Vermont, USA, with additional offices in Montreal, Canada, The UK, and Luxembourg.

Andover Healthcare Inc., a leading manufacturer of cohesive bandages and tapes for the healthcare, animal health and sports medicine industries, has purchased space at the Pease International Tradeport and will relocate its corporate headquarters from Salisbury, Mass. in 2015.

The company has hired six new employees and anticipates hiring 20 more, as well as relocating its corporate staff next year.

“‘Live Free and Prosper’ rings true for us,” said Andover Healthcare President Tom Murphy, who lives in New Hampshire. “We are thrilled to open a facility in New Hampshire.”

Murphy founded the company in the 1976, providing athletic tape to the Boston Bruins. A few years later, the New England Patriots’ trainers began using the tape and by the mid-1990s, Andover Health had grown as an industry leader in bandages for healthcare and animal care.

Two years ago the company expanded into the retail market with customers such as Walgreens and CVS.

“We recently received a large contract with Wal-Mart,” said Murphy, “and we needed to be in production quickly – the facility in Portsmouth is the perfect fit.”

The 52,000-square-foot Pease facility will produce elastic bandages for 3,500 Wal-Mart stores across the U.S.

“We are investing $700,000 in new equipment and we will also relocate our corporate offices to New Hampshire in 2015,” said CFO Bill Bauld. “Michael Bergeron of the New Hampshire Division of Economic Development was helpful to us in coordinating tax credits, financing options and job training programs.”

“On behalf of the people of New Hampshire, I am honored to welcome Andover Healthcare to the Granite State,” said Gov. Maggie Hassan. “Andover Healthcare’s relocation reinforces that our low-tax environment, responsive state government and high quality of life make New Hampshire as attractive a state for business as any in the country. Andover Healthcare’s presence in our state will help expand middle class opportunity and will keep our economy moving in the right direction.”

Seacoast Aerospace Initiative: Cleared for Take-off; Aero/Defense Business Cleared to Land

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014

The Seacoast Aerospace Initiative launched Monday, with the ceremonial signing of a letter that clears for landing Canadian aerospace companies looking for opportunity to expand in one of New Hampshire’s fastest growing sectors.

The initiative came about in 2012, as Albany International and Safran were preparing for their co-location in Rochester, and the need to prepare for the growth of the industry.

For the past 18 months, a partnership that included officials from Dover, Portsmouth, Rochester and Somersworth, as well as the Pease International Tradeport, Great Bay Community College and the University of New Hampshire and we here at the New Hampshire Division of Economic Development, has been working to position this region as a hub for composites manufacturing.

Fast forward to this week and we celebrated a milestone: The signing of a letter – in French – inviting Quebec aerospace companies and suppliers not only  to expand here, but to work with us in other areas, such as research and education.

“This collaboration has strengthened the Seacoast’s position as a leader in the aerospace and defense industry,” said Gov. Maggie Hassan. “This is win-win for everybody – the companies involved, the cities, the Seacoast, the state and for our people. It’s a good day for business in New Hampshire.”

Quebec is our closest neighbor to the north and we share more than an international border; we owe much to them for our history, culture and work ethic.

“Montreal is the national hub for aerospace,” said Thierry Weissenburger, senior trade commissioner of the Canadian Consulate in Boston. “This collaboration is happening as burgeoning trade is going on and I expect it grow massively.”

If you recall, our aerospace industry got a boost when the New Hampshire Aerospace and Defense Export Consortium signed a MOU with Aero Montreal in December, paving the way for our aerospace companies to have preferred relationships with their counterparts in Quebec.

“This happened six months ago and already you are moving on with the next steps,” said Marianne Bonnard, with the Quebec delegation. “You are already moving on to the step and I think that says a lot about the determination of the region here and of our cooperation.”

With that came the ceremonial signing of the letter by our Commissioner Jeffrey Rose, of the Department of Resources and Economic Development; Mayors Karen Weston of Dover, Robert Lister of Portsmouth, T.J. Dean of Rochester, Dana Hilliard of Somersworth, and Arthur Nickless Jr., chairman of the Pease Development Authority.

“This regional hub is the centerpiece for our state’s economy, built around aerospace and defense,” Rose said. “We’re ready for take-off on the Seacoast.”

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

The New Hampshire High Tech Council, through the Software Industry Xchange (SwIX), is very pleased to announce a call for applications for its two award programs recognizing New Hampshire’s “software educator of the year and “software company of the year.”  The winners will be announced at a special awards dinner during Techworld 2010, which is being held on October 14-15 at 72 Pease Blvd. at Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth (dinner is on the evening of the 14th).

techworld_logoThe NHHTC is encouraging organizations to apply for these awards as soon as possible, as the deadline for applicants is October 1.

TechWorld 2010 is a high-tech summit for all and will showcase the power of NH’s regional “Tec”onomy. The event will connect NH’s technological innovators, leaders, investors and students during a two-day expo that showcases the state’s fertile high-tech environment and celebrates the region’s successful technology companies and individuals.

This unique collaboration between the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce’s eCoast Technology Roundtable and the NH High Technology Council will showcase successful high-tech businesses, innovation and opportunity and provide a unique opportunity for recruiters and job seekers.

The award program has been in existence for several years and was previously managed by the Software Association of NH (SwANH).  In early 2010, SwANH merged with the NHHTC and SwIX became a software working group within the Council.  The awards were redesigned to compliment the current NHHTC awards (Product of the Year / Entrepreneur of the Year) with focus on the software industry with the software company of the year and software educator of the year.
